    • A look at the local, national & international landscape that shaped artists' perspectives
    • Investigate the art forms that were the roots of rap music
    • Discuss who were the influential and the pioneers of this art form 
    • Provide an opinion on who were the top rappers of the 1970s

  • Where did Rap come from?  
  • How did it develop?
  • How did the music reflect the times?
  • How did the core audience change, and how did that changed the music?

Expected Outcomes

  • Display how art form is is woven into the experiences of urban, African-American & youth culture
  • To learn how to appreciate the music, scrutinize the music, and consume the music.
